Novak Djokovic has had another exceptional year on the ATP Tour, reclaiming the top spot in the ATP rankings and winning three out of the four Grand Slam singles events, including the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open.

Djokovic will now set his sights on the ATP Finals in Turin, hoping to add one more major prize to his collection. As a six-time winner of the tournament, a victory in 2023 would secure him the record for the most titles.

His success in three Grand Slam events this year has projected Djokovic to be the number one seed for the ATP Finals in November, where he is already qualified along with two other players.

Known for his dominance on hard courts, Djokovic is the favorite to win the US Open in 2024 according to the Betfair tennis odds. He will be defending his crown at Flushing Meadows in New York.

While the ATP Finals were previously held in London, Djokovic won the tournament four times consecutively between 2012 and 2015. His victory in Turin last November marked his first success in the Italian city, which hosted the event for only the second time.

After winning the 2023 US Open, Djokovic has had limited appearances, playing only in Serbia’s Davis Cup tie against Spain. This rest period has allowed the world number one to recharge before the final tournament of the ATP calendar in Turin.

Former champion Daniil Medvedev has also secured a spot in the 2023 ATP Finals. He claimed victory in the tournament in 2020 and finished as the runner-up in the following year’s event.

In 2023, Medvedev reached eight ATP Tour finals, winning five titles, including the Miami Open and Italian Open. This made him the third player in history, alongside Andre Agassi and Djokovic, to win both tournaments in the same season.

Currently ranked third in the ATP Race to Turin, Medvedev is expected to participate in the Shanghai Masters, which serves as the final tournament before the top eight players qualify for Turin.

American players Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul have an opportunity to qualify for the ATP Finals but need to perform well in the Shanghai Masters to secure their place in the top eight. With 1000 points on offer for the winner, they are among the contenders striving to earn their spot in the prestigious event.

While defeating Djokovic is a formidable challenge for these younger players, the chance to compete in the ATP Finals will undoubtedly fuel their motivation to prove themselves.

The 2023 ATP Finals will take place from November 12th to 19th, marking the 54th edition of this prestigious tennis event.
