Rolex Shanghai Masters—Shanghai, China
The quarterfinals of the Rolex Shanghai Masters saw No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev and No. 18 seed Grigor Dimitrov both advancing to the semifinals on Friday.
In the first match, Dimitrov defeated No. 22 seed Nicolas Jarry in straight sets. The Bulgarian player needed one hour and 39 minutes to secure the win, hitting 11 aces and 19 winners.
Next, Dimitrov will face Rublev in the semifinals for a chance to reach the finals on Sunday. Rublev, the fifth seed, demonstrated an exceptional performance in defeating No. 32 seed Ugo Humbert by a score of 6-2, 6-3.
Rublev, who previously won the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters this year, has a head-to-head record of 3-3 against Dimitrov.
Saturday’s matches in Shanghai will also feature the second semifinal between No. 16 seed Hubert Hurkacz and No. 26 seed Sebastian Korda.
