Talented Danish player Holger Rune faced another defeat on the ATP Tour on Friday, losing to American Brandon Nakashima with a score of 6-0, 6-2.
Since reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Rune has only managed to win one match.
In other matches, players Casper Ruud (No. 8 seed), Hubert Hurkacz (No. 16 seed), Ben Shelton (No. 19 seed), and Christopher Eubanks (No. 29 seed) all advanced to the round of 32.
Alexander Zverev (No. 9 seed) and Alex de Minaur (No. 11 seed) joined Rune in the sidelines, losing to Roman Safiullin and Fabian Marozsan, respectively.
The Saturday schedule in Shanghai will feature top seed Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev (No. 2 seed), Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 4 seed), and Jannik Sinner (No. 6 seed) who recently won in Beijing.
